Is any food safe to eat?

Good fats. Bad fats. Good cholesterol. Bad cholesterol. This is the minefield we face when trying to figure out what food is healthy and what food is not. Surrounded by warnings, we spend a lot of our time worrying about what is in our food, but what is not in our food is becoming just
as important.

We have long known that eating in restaurants and ordering fast food adds unnecessary fat, calories and carbohydrates to our diet. In fact, studies show that we consume 50 per cent more fat, calories and sodium when we choose eating out over a home-cooked meal. To make matters worse, most of us fall short of the recommended daily servings of fruits and vegetables. Unless you are responsible for preparing the food you eat every day, your health is being put at risk.

Eat home more, eat out less

Preparing meals at home makes it easier to lose or maintain your weight and is therefore better for your overall health. But even if you eat healthily, you may not be cooking healthily.
